Advisory

Understand what's underneath the transformation before committing more to it.

The Modern CTO Circle provides independent, founder-led advisory for organizations that need to understand what is actually constraining progress — before committing more capital, technology or organizational change.

Start with evidence

Diagnosis before prescription.

TMCC doesn't begin with a technology to sell or a predetermined program. It begins by establishing what is actually happening inside the organization — where the leadership view is accurate, where assumptions have replaced evidence, and which constraints matter enough to act on.

The diagnostic tells you what you think. The Assessment tells you what's true, and where your own leadership disagrees about it.

The Assessment examines five areas:

  • Strategy & transformation readiness

    — whether the organization is aligned on what's changing and why.

  • Architecture & systems

    — whether the technology supports the direction being taken.

  • Organization & governance

    — whether ownership and decision rights reinforce the change.

  • Execution & investment capability

    — whether capital and delivery can turn intent into progress.

  • Ability to scale transformation & AI

    — whether new capability compounds rather than adds complexity.

How the work progresses

From diagnosis to transformation.

  1. 01

    Foundation Assessment

    A bounded, founder-led examination of the organization behind the program or investment: where it actually stands, where leadership views diverge, and what deserves attention before more is committed — including what should not be funded yet.

    Produces: interviews across the organization · a review of existing evidence and artifacts · a written analysis of findings and priorities · a leadership readout.

    A usable view of the situation, not a score.

  2. 02

    Transformation Roadmap

    Where the Assessment finds material work, it becomes sequence: what changes first, what depends on what, where investment is justified, and what can wait.

  3. 03

    Advisory / Fractional CTO

    Where more support is needed, founder-led senior technology leadership around the decisions and execution that follow — without a permanent executive hire before it's needed.

Independent by design

The findings belong to the client.

TMCC sells no technology and has no commercial interest in which vendor or system a client chooses. A partner may introduce the client, but the engagement is contracted with, directed by, and owed to the client alone. No referral fee is paid or received on a Foundation Assessment; no partner sees the findings unless the client shares them.

What this is not

Diagnosis, not implementation.

Not a systems implementation service. Not software resale. Not a vendor-selection process with a predetermined answer. Not a long program sold before the problem is established. TMCC establishes what's true and helps leadership decide; implementation is then carried by the organization, or the partners best suited to it.

Who it is for

For organizations where structural complexity has become material.

Generally from roughly fifty people upward — and especially when an organization is:

  • about to make a significant technology, transformation or AI investment;
  • part-way through a program but not seeing the progress expected;
  • coordinating multiple systems or initiatives that are getting harder, not easier;
  • unsure its current environment can support what's next.

Less suited to very small organizations whose need is mainly implementation. Engagements can be structured across the UAE and GCC, on-site and remote.

A 45-minute conversation — no presentation required, no report promised, no second session assumed. Just what's happening, what's already been tried, and whether there's a substantive issue worth investigating further. If there is, the next step becomes clear; if there isn't, it can end there.
